Welcome to our case studies page, here we have a selection of different types of projects that we have worked on, as you can see we have experience in many different situations, and can offer waterproofing systems, basement conversions and new basements for all types of damp including very wet basements and basements with limited headroom.
Holland Park, W11
A large basement (3800 sqaure feet) was required with depths of up to 7.5 metres with a swimming pool and lightwell in a very constricted area along a single mews road. Access via an archway beneath a building measuring just 2.8m wide and 2.8 high. The site required party wall approval on all sides with numerous properties. The excavations are within sand into the water table.
We provided a 500mm dia. secant bored pile wall using our 24T rig which was specially 'adapted' to access the site. We then constructed the concrete ground floor for the house and garden allowing 1st and 2nd floors to be constructed as we dug the basement minimising the build time.
The basement is constructed using waterproof concrete and an inner cavity drainage system with all pumps and drainage systems by ourselves.
New Basement
A basement for the entire footprint of a large new build house was required. It was to include lightwells, large open rooms and even a stadium seated cinema room.
The properties either side were close to the boundaries and the proposed basement was to be within 1.0m of these boundaries.
We constructed a contiguous bored pile retaining wall to each boundary. We then excavated and constructed a reinforced concrete basement using our insulated concrete formwork system with a cavity drainage system and all necessary pumping systems within. Our formwork system, our ability to carry out all the works required using our own staff and machinery shortened the programme considerably and provided a warm dry basement for the builder to place his house over.
